How to Set up & Reset Wi-Fi

Connecting your myenergi device, such as a zappi, eddi, or libbi, to Wi-Fi enables it to communicate with the myenergi cloud, allowing remote monitoring, updates, and optimised energy usage. This guide will walk you through the steps required to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network.

Requirements

  1. A compatible myenergi device with Wi-Fi capabilities.
  2. A 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (5GHz networks are not supported by myenergi devices).
  3. Your Wi-Fi network’s SSID (name) and password.
  4. Ensure your router's security settings are configured to WPA2 encryption for a secure and stable connection.

As a best practice, it is advisable to perform a reset before changing your Wi-Fi settings or setting up the device. This ensures that the Wi-Fi module is refreshed and prepared for the new configuration.

Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Connection Issues

If you encounter difficulties connecting your myenergi device to Wi-Fi, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check Network Compatibility

  • Ensure that your router supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, as myenergi devices do not support 5GHz bands.
  • If your router broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks with the same name, consider separating them or temporarily disabling the 5GHz network during setup.

Improve Signal Strength

  • Place the device closer to your Wi-Fi router, especially during setup. If your mobile device has a poor signal to the router at the location of the myenergi product, consider using a Wi-Fi range extender to improve coverage.

Restart Your Router and Device

  • Power off your router for a few seconds and then restart it. Wait for the router to re-establish an internet connection.
  • Restart the myenergi device and attempt to reconnect to the Wi-Fi.

Verify Network Credentials

  • Double-check that you are entering the correct Wi-Fi password, as even small errors will prevent connection.

Check Mobile Device Connectivity

If unable to connect, check if your mobile device connects to the router when near the myenergi product. This can help identify whether the issue lies with the device or the network.

Reset to New Network Settings

If you have changed your router or internet provider, reset and reconnect the myenergi products to the new network settings, as they won't automatically detect these changes.

myenergi Wi-FI BGN Standard

Our internal Wi-Fi cards adhere to the 802.11 BGN standards, which encompass both the 802.11b and 802.11g specifications for wireless networking, as well as the more advanced 802.11n standard. This compliance ensures that our devices support a range of wireless transmission speeds and frequencies, allowing for reliable connectivity and improved performance in various networking environments. The integration of these standards facilitates effective data transfer and enhances the overall user experience, making our systems suitable for a wide array of applications.
