This article will guide you through configuring the Lock Function on your zappi, a feature designed to prevent unauthorised use of the device. This is particularly useful in scenarios where multiple people share access to the same zappi charger.
The Lock Function allows the owner to set a PIN code that must be entered at the start of each charging session, ensuring the zappi only provides power to authorised users.
Configuring the Lock Function
To enable and configure the Lock Function on your zappi, follow these steps:
- Press the Menu button on the far left of the zappi to enter the menu.
- Scroll down and select Other Settings.
- From the options, select Lock Function.
- You will now see all the configurable options for the Lock Function.
What Does Each Option Mean?
-
EV PLUGGED: When set to ON, the lock function activates when an EV is plugged into the zappi, ensuring no unauthorised access during charging.
-
EV UNPLUGGED: When set to ON, the lock function is enabled when no EV is plugged in, keeping the zappi secure at all times. It is recommended to enable both the EV PLUGGED and EV UNPLUGGED options for continuous security.
-
TIMEOUT: This setting determines how long the zappi waits to activate the lock after the last button is pressed. You can configure this time delay based on your preference.
-
LOCK CODE: This is where you set the 5-digit PIN code for the lock function. Please note that only numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 can be used. The default code is 44444.
-
AUTO HIDE: When enabled, this option will replace the default zappi display with a padlock icon once the lock is active. All standard information on the screen will be hidden, providing an extra layer of privacy and security.
-
CHARGE: If set to ON, the zappi will allow an EV to charge without permitting access to the menus or settings. This setting is ideal for environments like workplace car parks, where charging is permitted, but access to device settings is restricted. If set to OFF, the zappi is fully locked, and no charging or menu access will be available without entering the lock code.
-
TEST: This option allows you to test the operation of the lock solenoid on an untethered zappi. While not commonly used by consumers, it can be helpful in troubleshooting or confirming the lock’s functionality.
By configuring the Lock Function on your zappi, you can maintain control over who can use the charger and ensure that its settings remain secure. This feature is especially useful in shared or public spaces where access must be limited to authorised individuals.
