Overview
As well as the different power ratings, colour options and the choice of tethered or untethered, myenergi also makes two versions of the zappi to meet specific local regulations.
ZAPPI-2Hxxx-T
In some countries, it is only permitted to install an EV charger which complies fully with the International Standard (IEC 61851-1). For this reason, we offer the “-T” version of zappi (“-T” for “Terra” or Earth) In this zappi, the Protective Earth conductor is not interrupted even if zappi detects a PEN Fault. Zappi still reports the fault and isolates the Line and Neutral conductors but the risk of an electric shock from the Earth conductor remains. ZAPPI-2Hxxx-G (UK)
This version of zappi has built in “PEN Fault” protection which detects a fault in the cabling on the electricity distribution system which supplies the property where zappi is installed. These faults only occur on “TN” earthing systems where the Protective Earth and Neutral conductors are combined in the cable that supplies the property. In the UK there is a requirement in the local Wiring Regulations where the Protective Earth conductor in the EV charger must be isolated if a PEN Fault is detected. This protection is provided in the “standard” zappi. It is important to note that the International Standard for EV Charging Equipment (IEC 61851-1) does not allow the Protective Earth conductor to be interrupted – so the local requirements in the UK conflict with the Product Standard. There is a local derogation in the UK to allow this.
