If you already have an inverter and battery system installed and are considering adding a libbi, you may wonder whether the libbi controller can be used to manage both setups.
Answer
No. The libbi controller is designed to operate only with the libbi system it is supplied with. It cannot be configured to control, monitor, or manage any third-party battery or inverter setup.
Why This Limitation Exists
The libbi controller uses proprietary communication protocols and system logic specific to myenergi hardware. This ensures the controller can:
- Safely manage charging and discharging cycles
- Synchronise with the libbi hybrid inverter
- Monitor State of Charge (SoC) and other internal metrics
- Ensure accurate data reporting and cloud integration
Attempting to connect the controller to any non-libbi system could result in communication errors, unexpected behaviour, or even damage to either system.
Recommended Setup
- Use the libbi controller exclusively with the libbi battery and inverter supplied as part of the myenergi ecosystem.
- Keep existing third-party batteries and inverters separate, with their own independent management system.
- If replacing a third-party system, fully decommission it before installing libbi as a standalone solution.
