These instructions apply to the hub (Ti & PIC)
Updating devices is crucial for several reasons:
- Firstly, updates often contain patches for security vulnerabilities, helping to safeguard against potential threats and data breaches.
- Secondly, updates can improve device performance, efficiency, and reliability, ensuring smoother operation and a better user experience. Additionally, updates often introduce new features or enhancements, enhancing functionality and keeping devices up-to-date with evolving technology standards.
Overall, regular updates are essential for maintaining the security, performance, and functionality of devices in today's rapidly evolving digital landscape. Below are your two ways of updating libbi.
Current firmware includes a change to radio channels which may mean they cannot talk to the hub once the hub firmware is updated. Once all devices are updated it should be possible to use one of the other channels if needed.
- The hub is updated by a short press of the download button.
- The server LED will turn white while the new firmware is updated.
- When the update is complete the LEDs on the hub will return to their normal state:
-
- power light green,
- server light green (or blue if the hub has not been registered)
- device lights blue, green or unlit depending on what devices are connected
When the firmware on the hub has been updated the server light will return to blue or green.
Download the new device firmware
The next step is to download the device firmware images to the hub so that they can then be transferred to your zappi or eddi.
- Briefly press the "download" button
- The "server" LED should now turn white - potentially for 2-3 minutes - as the new firmware is downloaded
- Once the firmware is downloaded the server LED will return to blue or green
To make sure you have the latest firmware on your hub
-
Unplug the power to the hub
-
Press and hold the download button
-
Plug the power back in again while continuing to hold the download button
-
Keep holding the button down until the power light turns yellow, then release the download button
-
The power light should now change to green and the “server” LED should now turn white for up to a minute (although this may take a lot longer if the server is heavily loaded – please be patient).
When the firmware on the hub has been updated the server light will return to blue or green.
