Updating devices is crucial for several reasons:

  • Firstly, updates often contain patches for security vulnerabilities, helping to safeguard against potential threats and data breaches.
  • Secondly, updates can improve device performance, efficiency, and reliability, ensuring smoother operation and a better user experience. Additionally, updates often introduce new features or enhancements, enhancing functionality and keeping devices up-to-date with evolving technology standards.

Overall, regular updates are essential for maintaining the security, performance, and functionality of devices in today's rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Warning: These instructions apply to the eddi v2 (The eddi with built-in WiFi which will have a serial number starting with a "2")

Background downloads

Being on the latest firmware is one crucial way to prevent security breaches. To ensure you are always on the most up-to-date firmware, your eddi will regularly check for new software and you will be notified in your myenergi app when updates are available. If it has then you will receive a notification in the myenergi app.

The app will prompt you to install an update similar to the image below.

If this comes up, you can either install now or delay. Delaying will only work 3 times, the 4th you will be unable to use eddi via our app until the update is installed.

Updating via eddi

The firmware may already have downloaded in the background but if you want to download it now, or to make sure you have the latest firmware on your device then:

  1. Navigate to the Firmware Download menu and select the option to download the firmware
On the eddi, the menu is "Device/Other Settings - Download Firmware - Download..."

The download progress is shown on the screen.

  2. Once the download is complete, on the "Firmware Update" menu, now select the option to "Install..."

  3. Your eddi will now update its firmware and will reboot.

Warning: If you do not get any firmware showing, check your device is connected to the internet. For more info on that see our article here -> Setting up WiFi & Resetting WiFi Configuration
