Released 26/04/2024 - Previous version 5.408
Please note this firmware release only applies to the eddi v2.1 with built in Ethernet, WiFi and "vHub". These eddis have a serial number starting with a "2" or higher
It does not apply to previous versions of eddi without the built in WiFi/Ethernet.
New Features
Grid Temp Limit
- A user is able to set a target temperature to charge to using boosts (Grid Temp). This will be lower than the maximum permitted temperature (Gen Temp). This will allow an overnight boost, allowing for enough hot water for a shower while also allowing more thermal space in the tank for solar tracking to occur in the day.
Refined Heating Logic
- Eddi will divert power to the priority heater (output 1 unless otherwise set). Once the priority heater reaches its maximum temperature, eddi will begin diverting to the secondary heater. Eddi will see if it can return to heating the priority output every 15 minutes. If it is able to, it will continue heating the priority heater until it reaches temperature again, otherwise it’ll continue heating the secondary heater until it too reaches max temp. Once both heaters are at max temp, eddi will test the outputs every 10 minutes, starting with the priority output.
- The above behaviour is followed if PT1000s are used, but will use the set hysteresis instead of time checks.
- If a boost schedule exists, then the boosted heater will constantly run at maximum load until it reaches temperature, at which point the above logic will be adhered to. Once the boosted output is tested and is able to take power again it will do so. This continues until the schedule comes to an end.
- If both outputs have scheduled boosts, the logic concerning surplus tracking is adhered to, except both outputs will be operating at their maximum permitted powers.
- If a manual boost is started, this will take precedence, even if the secondary output is manually boosted and the priority output is running a scheduled boost. The manual boost will run until either the output reaches its maximum temperature or if the manual boost time comes to an end.
German Language Support
- We now support the Deutsch language in our product.
- Navigate to Device Settings → Display → Language and select German/Deutsch.
Installation Assistant
- A new installation assistant has been implemented which guides an installer through more settings that are required for an optimal install. This should see improved quality of installations moving forward.
- We now encourage installers to actively set a passcode on the device. The settings behind the new “Installer Menu” all pertain to the install settings and should not be altered by the end user. With this we’ve also changed what can be found in the advanced menu, as these should no longer relate to the install.
Improvements
- Improved functionality of export threshold as there were reports of inadequate device response following the v5 upgrade.
- We've also introduced an internet indicator on the main screen (Wi-Fi strength/ethernet).
- Memory handling of G100 events have been improved.
Bug Fixes
- General display fixes, including misplaced text and other bugs. We’ve also ensured that all PT1000 temperatures are visible on the main screen (where two exist), and that there’s better mobility around the menus (sometimes pressing and holding enter or escape would continually re-trigger).
- A bug has been addressed that would cause repeat readings to be sent to the server.
Important - when updating to V5 firmware (from v2, v3 or v4) it is important that all zappis and eddis are also updated to V5 so that they can continue to work together.
