Can I use OCPP charging profiles with zappi?

Starting from firmware version 5.5, zappi now has the ability to support OCPP charging profiles. These profiles enable users to manage the charging capacity of the charger during specific times. To utilize charging profiles, you must activate commercial mode on your zappi. zappi is compatible with both TxProfile and TxDefaultProfile profiles, and it can also handle recurring profiles.

Charging Profiles

When zappi is in commercial mode, it can use OCPP charging profiles to manage the energy flow to vehicles at specific times of the day. Zappi receives schedules from an OCPP Platform and follows them accordingly. A maximum of 84 individual schedules can be set on zappi. Each time period within a charging profile is considered as one of these available slots.

Overwriting the TxDefaultProfile

Zappi only allows one TxDefaultProfile. If you send a new TxDefaultProfile when one is already in place, the existing charging profile will be replaced.

Disconnection from the internet

Even if the charger loses internet connection or connection to the platform, the OCPP charging profiles, which are stored locally on the charger, will still be followed. Our OCPP service operates in the cloud, but this local storage ensures uninterrupted charging.

Regulations for Smart Charging (Only applicable in Great Britain)

Smart Charging Regulations are in effect in Great Britain, which includes England, Scotland, and Wales. myenergi has incorporated a randomised delay feature in zappi that activates when a new schedule is initiated. If your platform has implemented this randomised delay, you can bypass it by modifying the RandomSmartChargeDelay OCPP configuration parameter to 0.

Note: myenergi limits the number of writes to zappi's memory in order to ensure the durability of our products. If you exceed the allowed number of memory writes within a short period of time, charging profiles may be rejected. If this happens, please wait and try again once the restriction has been lifted. For zappi, the limit is 24 writes within a 60-minute period. Additionally, Zappi will only write schedules that have changed since the last write operation, in order to optimize performance.
