Basic principles
The myenergi devices normally communicate with each other over a wireless link.
If they have an Ethernet or WiFi connection, then the devices can also communicate over this link alongside or instead of the wireless link.
In either case all the devices need to be set up on the same "channel" - on the wireless link this relates to the frequency of the radio.
There are eight channels, number 1 to 8
When the device leaves the factory it defaults to channel 1 and in most cases this will work fine. Sometimes it's necessary to change the channel to deal with local radio interference.
If the devices are not all on the same channel then they won't be able to communicate
How do I check the what channel the devices are on?
zappi / eddi
On the zappi the channel is shown in the Information menu, page 3
Note: If the channel has a letter (A) after the number this indicates that the zappi is operating on the 915MHz radio channels required for Australia and America.
hub
To check the channel on the hub, briefly press the "pair" button"
The power light will now flash red, and one of the other lights will be solid blue or white
The channel LED will be blue for channels 1-4
The channel LED will be white for channels 5-8
Note: If the server LED is yellow, this indicates that the zappi is operating on the 915MHz radio channels required for Australia and America.
harvi
To check the radio channel on the harvi, briefly press the pair button.
The LED will flash blue a number of times to indicate the channel number. A single flash indicates channel 1, 2 flashes indicates channel 2 etc.
Then the LED will flash red to indicate the harvi is in pairing mode.
Changing the channels
eddi / zappi
On the eddi and zappi, you can change the channel on the menu
Other Settings -> Advanced -> x x x x -> Linked Devices -> Channel
Note: If the channel has a letter (A) after the number this indicates that the zappi is operating on the 915MHz radio channels required for Australia and America.
hub
On the hub, the channel is changed by:
- briefly putting the hub into the pairing mode by briefly pressing the pair button.
- then keeping the pair button pressed until the LED's indicate the required channel
Example of hub on channel 4
Note: If the server LED is yellow, this indicates that the zappi is operating on the 915MHz radio channels required for Australia and America.
harvi
Press and hold the pair button until the LED flashes blue the LED will flash rapidly to indicate the channel number from 1 to 8.
Release the button when the the chosen channel is shown.
