Does Gridpay work with solar?
Yes - Whilst Gridpay is active your zappi or zappi GLO will charge your car from solar whenever sufficient excess solar is available outside of your given tariff window. This is the same behaviour as ECO+ mode for zappi, or Smart Charging mode with zappi GLO.
Just plug in as normal; there's nothing extra to set up, and your charger will use available excess solar during the day before charging from the grid later during your tariff’s off-peak rate.
Remember
EVs need a minimum of 1.4kW excess solar to begin charging.
What if I want to prioritise libbi or eddi first?
If you have libbi or eddi alongside your charger and would rather they use your excess solar first, your can rearrange your device priority order to libbi, eddi, then your zappi or zappi GLO last.
To do this:
- Navigate to the the home screen, use a long touch on one of the device icons (eg the zappi, libbi or eddi).
After a second the screen will change and you can drag the device icons to change the order. - Move which ever device you want to consume excess solar first to the priority 1 slot. If there is any surplus generation left over it will be used by device 2, and so on.
To get two or more devices to share the surplus power between them, drag one device icon on top of the other. They will then be set to have the same priority
With that order in place, solar will fill libbi and top up eddi's hot water before any surplus reaches your EV.
What if I only want to charge with Solar for a while?
For sunny periods where you want to skip charging from the grid entirely, head to the Gridpay menu in the myenergi app and set your charging preference to 0kWh. This will prevent your zappi or zappi GLO from scheduling any overnight charging during your off-peak window.
Remember
Switch it back to your usual amount (e.g. 20kWh) the next day or whenever you would like to resume grid charging.
What if I want to export my solar instead?
If you'd rather export your solar you have two options:
Option 1
To prevent zappi & zappi GLO from using your excess solar whilst plugged in, first open the myenergi app, tap the three lines in the top left corner and then open the settings menu at the bottom.
Go to Device Settings > Advanced > Export Margin
Your Export Margin is how much excess solar is guaranteed to be exported before your myenergi products start consuming it. Setting it to the max (10kW) works for most users, since it's above peak export for a typical home setup.
One thing to keep in mind: export margin is a whole-system setting, not just for your charger. Raising it will also stop excess solar reaching libbi or eddi if you have them.

If you’d rather not adjust your system settings, we recommend simply leaving your EV unplugged during the day and plugging it in after sunset ready for your off-peak window.
