Updating zappi v1

 

These instructions apply to the zappi v1.0

Updating devices is crucial for several reasons:

  • Firstly, updates often contain patches for security vulnerabilities, helping to safeguard against potential threats and data breaches.
  • Secondly, updates can improve device performance, efficiency, and reliability, ensuring smoother operation and a better user experience. Additionally, updates often introduce new features or enhancements, enhancing functionality and keeping devices up-to-date with evolving technology standards.

Overall, regular updates are essential for maintaining the security, performance, and functionality of devices in today's rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Warning: If you have more than just Zappi V1, contact the myenergi Support Team for assistance updating as specific firmware will need to be allocated as V1 zappi is unable to work with our current V5 generation of firmware.

Download the new zappi firmware

The first step is to download the device firmware images to the hub so that they can then be transferred to your zappi once technical support has allocated firmware. 

Warning: If you have a libbi. You cannot use zappi v1 as it is unable to use compatible firmware please do not proceed without contacting myenergi for assistance

  • Unplug the power to the hub
  • Press and hold the download button
  • Plug the power back in again while continuing to hold the download button
  • Keep holding the button down until the power light turns yellow, then release the download button
  • The power light should now change to green and the “server” LED should now turn white for up to a minute (although this may take a lot longer if the server is heavily loaded – please be patient).

Warning: When the firmware on the hub has been updated the server light will return to blue or green.

Install the new device firmware

Select the menu "Device Settings - Download Firmware" 

Zappi will download the latest firmware and then reboot. 

Warning: Some older firmware does not have the above setting, additional steps are required to complete the upgrade.  If in doubt of which you have, contact the myenergi Support Team for assistance. 

Select the menu "Settings - Advanced - XXXX - System - Download Firmware 

Install the new device firmware via bootloader

Method 1

  1. Turn off the zappi, turn it back on and at the same time press and hold TICK/Boost.
  • Now select the menu to Download Latest Firmware

  1. zappi will download the latest firmware and then reboot. 

 

Method 2

  1. Press the down arrow to access the main menu. 
  2. Press and hold the X / Mode Button until you see the screen go blank.
  3. As soon as your screen goes blank, let go of X/Mode and press and hold TICK/Boost.
  • Now select the menu to Download Latest Firmware

  1. zappi will download the latest firmware and then reboot.
