harvi Connectivity
The harvi is designed to work up to a range of 35m with clear line of sight. This is the upper limit of connectivity and for the best connection requires the harvi to be within 20m of the master device with no obstructions in the way. Stone or metallic walls as well as foil-backed insulation can interfere with RF signals which will negatively affect the connection quality of harvi and the reliability of data being reported.
Firmware Version 4 or earlier
In previous firmware versions, if a device lost connection with the harvi, it would continue to charge or divert for approximately one hour before displaying an error message. If the connection was automatically re-established within this period, no error message would appear, despite a temporary lost connection.
Firmware Version 5 onwards
Since the release of firmware version 5 a new regulation called, Engineering Recommendation G100 Issue 2, 2022 Amendment 2, has come into effect. This regulates wirelessly connected CT clamps.
In this scenario, if the connection between a harvi and a device is lost for 30 seconds, the Grid CT Lost error is triggered. The master device will notify the user, and charging or diverting will temporarily pause, while disconnected. In most cases, both devices are functioning correctly, and the issue will self-resolve once the connection is automatically re-established. If you have recently updated to version 5 firmware, this will explain the change in behaviour.
Potential Solutions
In most cases, connection issues with the harvi are related to its placement relative to the master device. To improve connectivity, users can take the following steps:
- Change the harvi to a different channel to see if connection improves (see: Checking & Changing the radio communications channel)
- Moving the harvi as high as possible
- If more than one device is fitted (e.g. zappi and eddi), try making the other device the master device and monitor for signal improvement (see: Pairing Devices)
- Relocate harvi to another location where the signal is better
- INSTALLER ADVISED:Extend the CT Clamp cable with one twisted pair, up to 100m to allow the harvi to be relocated
