Gridpay is myenergi's grid flexibility service that automatically adjusts your zappi charger to help balance the electricity grid. You get rewarded £5-10 when we make these adjustments, and it takes just 2 minutes to sign up.

With Axle Energy as our software partner, Gridpay connects your smart meter and zappi to the energy market. This allows you to monetise your home energy system while supporting a more efficient grid.

This article covers the most frequently asked questions about Gridpay and our partnership with Axle.

Important

Gridpay Auto Schedule is now the default Gridpay experience, replacing the previous Gridpay setup.
Auto Schedule automatically manages your charging and rewards you with £5-10 every month. For more information on how Auto Schedule works, please see here.

What is Gridpay?
Gridpay is myenergi’s grid flexibility service. Once signed up, we automatically adjust your zappi charging when the grid is under strain. In return, you earn rewards for your participation.
How do I sign up?

Open the myenergi app to check whether you’re eligible. If you are, you’ll see a banner or pop-up inviting you to join Gridpay. If you’ve previously dismissed this, you can also start the sign-up at any time by going to Settings → Gridpay and following the onboarding steps.

If you’re not eligible, you won’t see the Gridpay option in the app at this time.

Will this ever cost me money?

No, using Gridpay is free. You’ll still pay for the electricity used to charge your EV, but we make sure it happens during your cheapest available times.

What if I have a two-rate tariff?

We automatically schedule charging during your cheapest available window. On a two-rate tariff, this will typically be your overnight off-peak period.

For tariffs with multiple lower-cost periods (such as dynamic tariffs), we’ll select one of these windows to optimise your charging.

If you ever need more charge, you can use the ‘Boost Now’ button in the app.

Can I still use solar or surplus microgeneration energy?

Yes. Your EV can be charged using excess solar or other surplus generation, provided there is at least 1.4 kW available.

Why hasn't Gridpay appeared in my app?

Gridpay isn’t currently available to everyone, but we’re working to expand the programme to more customers.

If your home meets the Gridpay eligibility requirements, the option will appear automatically in your myenergi app. If you don’t see Gridpay in the app, it likely means your current setup isn’t eligible yet.

Please note:

Homes already using a smart EV tariff, such as Intelligent Octopus Go or OVO Charge Anytime, aren’t eligible for Gridpay. These tariffs already manage charging automatically, so Gridpay won’t appear in the app.

Can I combine this with a smart tariff, such as Intelligent Octopus Go?

No. Smart tariffs already adjust your charging, and may be participating in grid services on your behalf.

What if I already have a charge schedule?

With Gridpay Auto Schedule, you won’t need manual schedules in your car or your zappi anymore.

It automatically manages your charging based on your tariff, optimising for your cheapest available times.

If you need to charge immediately, just use the “Boost Now” button in the app.

Will you ever take energy out of my car battery?

No, we won’t drain your battery.

How much will I be rewarded?

You’ll earn £5-10 every month you are opted-in to Gridpay Auto Schedule.

When will I get rewarded?

You’ll receive your rewards every month on the same day your Gridpay Auto Schedule was activated. You can redeem your rewards once your balance exceeds £10.

How will I get rewarded?

Each month, on the same date your Gridpay Auto Schedule was activated, you’ll receive an email with a link to your Gridpay Rewards.

From there, you can redeem your rewards via bank transfer (you’ll be asked to provide your bank details when cashing out). You can access this page at any time.

What do I do if I am moving house?
Before moving, please withdraw any money from your Gridpay Wallet. To offboard your account in the app, go to Menu > Settings > Gridpay > Deactivate. Once this is complete, please click Forget Ecosystem so that the Zappi is deregistered from your account. This will allow the system to be set up again at the new property if required.
How do I leave Gridpay?
You can easily opt out of Gridpay in the myenergi app. Simply open Settings, select Gridpay > Deactivate, and follow the on-screen steps.

For any other questions or issues, please contact our team at gridpay@myenergi.com.

Thank you for supporting Gridpay with myenergi.
