Why does my hub transmit consumption data to the myenergi server?
myenergi products are designed to help customers understand their energy consumption and to make informed decisions about how they can reduce their energy usage, use more renewable energy and make the most of "dual rate" or "off-peak" tariffs.
When you buy a myenergi product you have free access to the myenergi app and online account (myaccount.myenergi.com)
Both the app and the account allow you to monitor your real-time power flows and to view graphs showing the energy used over different periods.
To provide these features we need to collect the power and energy values from the different devices so that the data can be displayed when the customer wants to see it.
myenergi devices are also designed so that they can contribute to future "demand side response services" (for example, reducing the speed that an EV charges if the electricity grid is overloaded). To provide these services the Grid and Distribution Companies require power and energy data.
What ports do myenergi use?
The hub initiates the connection to the myenergi servers. This is an outgoing connection to port 87 on the server.
No other ports are required.
What are the IP addresses of the myenergi servers?
The hub sends data to an Amazon Web Services (AWS) server on one of the following IP addresses:
108.128.185.52
34.249.116.47
54.155.166.221
54.73.158.65
63.32.240.162
34.252.232.230
In addition, the hub will also contact
- director.myenergi.online if it loses contact with the server so it can check if the AWS server details have changed
- firmware.myenergi.online to download new firmware
What data exactly does my hub transmit to your server?
The hub transmits status, power and energy data to the servers. This includes:
- voltage and frequency measurements
- the status of the devices (eg is the EV charging?)
- any alarms or error states
- the firmware version installed on the product
- key events, such as EV plugged-in, charge started, etc which are required to create full records of the EV charging (this feature will be provided early in 2022 in response to strong demands from our customers who want full reports of the charge logs)
Is there any data that can be related to me or my household or my personal energy consumption?
The power and energy data recorded is as follows:
- Grid connection - kW/kWh imported/exported
- Local generation - kW/kWh imported/exported
- myenergi devices - kW/kWh consumed
- other devices (eg third-party batteries) - kW consumed/returned to the property
From these values, the power/energy consumed by the remaining loads in the property is calculated.
The data is stored against the hub and device serial number.
Personal information (e.g. name, address etc) is stored in a separate system in a different data center.
To attribute power readings to a user both sets of data are needed.
How often or at what intervals does my hub transmit which data to your server?
The myenergi devices transmit status packets and history data to the hub every second.
The hub aggregates these into a larger packet which is then forwarded to our servers.
The hub will transmit a packet at least once every 10 seconds. More packets are sent if
- there are several myenergi devices on the same network - as more history data is sent to the hub it will transmit more often
- if the app is active then the hub transmits once a second
Where do you store my data?
The data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers. Personal data is stored in London, energy data in the Republic of Ireland.
