The Live Readings Screen
When you open the myenergi app, you’ll see the live readings screen. This provides a real-time overview of your energy usage and generation.
Key Features:
- Green Leaf Icon: The green leaf at the centre of the screen shows the percentage of energy currently being used that comes from your renewable (green) energy sources. For example, if the leaf shows "66%", it means two-thirds of your energy usage is being supplied by your own generation.
- Device Overview: Selecting the green leaf icon takes you to a detailed summary of all connected myenergi devices and energy usage.
Overview Screen Layout:
- Top Section: Displays a summary of energy usage for the selected time period (default is “today”).
Energy Analysis
The energy analysis screen provides detailed breakdowns of energy usage in kWh, focusing on consumption, generation, imports, exports, and renewable energy usage.
Definitions:
- Consumption: Total energy used within the property, including all myenergi-monitored devices and other household loads.
- Generation: Energy produced by your photovoltaic (PV) panels or wind turbine.
- Imported (Grid): Energy drawn from the electricity grid.
- Consumed Generation: Locally generated energy that was used directly within the property (self-consumption).
- Exported Generation: Locally generated energy sent back to the grid.
- Green Leaf Percentage: The percentage of your total energy usage that comes from renewable sources.
Drilling Down Into the Data:
You can explore further by selecting:
- Consumption (left box): Understand the sources of energy powering your property.
- Generation (right box): See how your locally generated energy is being utilised.
Energy Graphs
The lower half of the energy analysis screen provides graphs of energy usage over time. These graphs allow you to track energy history and patterns.
Features:
- Energy Sources Graph: Shows overall energy usage and its sources (e.g., grid, PV, or wind). You can customise the display by selecting different energy types.
- Device Usage Graph: Focuses on the energy consumed by specific devices.
Tips for Viewing Graphs:
- Use the expand icon in the top-right corner or rotate your device to view the graphs in full screen.
- Toggle between different data sets by selecting the energy bars below the graphs.
What Does the Shading on the Graphs Mean?
Shaded sections in the energy graphs represent periods when your device is boosting.
Boost Types:
- zappi: Scheduled, Manual, or Smart Boost.
- eddi: Scheduled Boost.
How Boost Works:
During a boost, the connected load (e.g., EV or water heater) draws as much power as required, up to the device's limit:
- zappi: Default limit is 32A (around 7.4 kW at 230V).
- eddi: Default limit is 16A (around 3.68 kW at 230V).
The actual power drawn depends on the load. For example, an EV may draw maximum power initially, then reduce as the battery nears full capacity and the Battery Management System (BMS) conditions the cells.
After the Boost:
- zappi: If in ECO+ mode, charging will stop after the boost finishes and resume only when there’s sufficient surplus generation.
- eddi: Similarly, no power will be diverted to the connected load unless surplus generation becomes available.
