Pilot Problem Warning

The "Pilot Problem" warning appears when your zappi detects an issue with the Control Pilot signal between the charger and your electric vehicle (EV). This signal is essential for safe charging, so zappi stops charging until the issue is resolved.

What is the Control Pilot?

The Control Pilot is a communication signal between zappi and your EV. If it fails, charging cannot start safely.

When you might see this warning

  • Immediately after plugging in the EV
  • Only when moving or reconnecting the charge cable
  • Even with no vehicle connected (possible internal fault)

Before you start

Tap the tab below to select your zappi type and follow the relevant steps.

Untethered zappi

Use these steps to check whether the issue is with zappi or your charging cable.

  1. Try charging your EV at another AC charge point, ideally another zappi.
  2. If the EV does not charge elsewhere, your charge lead is likely faulty. Contact the cable manufacturer for support.
  3. If the EV charges successfully at the other charge point, contact myenergi Support.

Tethered zappi

Follow these checks to confirm if the issue is with zappi or the EV.

  • Test the EV at another charge point

If it does not charge anywhere, the issue is with the vehicle. Contact the vehicle manufacturer or dealer.

  • Check for errors with no EV connected

If the error shows with nothing plugged in, contact myenergi Support.

  • If the error shows with EV connected
    • Move the charge lead gently up and down to see if charging starts.
    • If charging never starts, try charging the EV at another AC charge point.
    • If the EV does not charge elsewhere, this indicates a fault with the vehicle charge socket. Contact the vehicle manufacturer or dealer.
    • If the EV does charge elsewhere, contact myenergi Support.

Important

Do not attempt to repair the cable or vehicle charge socket yourself as an end user. This could be dangerous and will void warranties.

Support

If the issue persists after completing the steps, contact myenergi Support with:

  • zappi serial number
  • Firmware version
  • Whether the zappi is tethered or untethered
  • What tests you have completed
  • Whether the EV charges at other charge points

This information helps us diagnose the issue faster.
