Overview
OVO Charge Anytime is a type-of-use add-on to customers home energy tariff that enables eligible EV drivers to charge when the grid is at its greenest and cheapest. If you're using a myenergi zappi, you can connect to this service in one of two ways:
- Vehicle-based integration – where charging is controlled via your electric vehicle (EV) through its internet connection.
- zappi-based integration – where the zappi device communicates with OVO through the myenergi cloud to manage charging directly.
The integration method you use depends on your zappi model, firmware version, and preferred control method.
Note
Vehicle integration is ideal if your zappi is not internet connected and your EV already supports smart charging. If you have a zappi 2.1 or GLO and want solar optimisation zappi integration is the recommended route.

To connect your zappi to OVO Charge Anytime:
- You must use the same login method during onboarding as you use for the myenergi app. It does not need to match the login you use for the OCO Charge Anytime app.
- Ensure your zappi is a 2.1 or GLO with firmware version 5.733 or later
- Confirm a stable internet connection is available at the zappi
Important
If your login method does not match what is used in the myenergi app, the onboarding process may fail.
Firmware updates for zappi 2.1 must be applied manually. For zappi GLO, updates are automatically pushed when the unit is online.
Once successfully connected, your zappi will switch to Managed Mode. This means:
- Charging schedules and boost controls are managed entirely via the OVO app
- Local changes such as scheduling or mode switching will be disabled
- Manual boost remains available on the device if the internet connection is lost
OVO will create a schedule based on grid demand and your charge preferences. This may include charging at varying power levels or with intentional breaks. If you have a Solar CT clamp, solar generation will also be factored into scheduling decisions.

Onboarding fails in the OVO app
- Ensure your myenergi login method matches what you’re using in the myenergi app
- Log out and back into the myenergi app to verify access
- If your devices appear correctly, onboarding should succeed
My vehicle didn’t charge as expected
- If the zappi displays "Charge delayed", your vehicle may not be accepting the charge
- Ensure all charging schedules are cleared from the vehicle
- Some vehicles do not wake for remote charge signals—please consult your manufacturer
- If you use pin lock, ensure it was unlocked at the time of the charge
Why is my vehicle charging during the day?
This is likely intentional. OVO schedules charging when wholesale energy prices are lowest, which may be during the day in periods of high renewable generation.
The zappi drained my home battery
zappi cannot currently communicate with third-party batteries. If OVO schedules a daytime charge, your battery may attempt to supply that load. You have a few options:
- Disable your battery during expected zappi charging times
- Move your battery’s Grid CT clamp so it does not see the zappi load (requires an electrician)
- Consider using a libbi, which can differentiate between home and zappi energy usage
Note
Altering CT clamp positions should only be done by someone who fully understands your electrical system—typically a qualified installer or electrician.
