Why zappi GLO Needs Wi-Fi for Firmware Updates

Important! Unlike our screen-based products, GLO must be connected to Wi-Fi directly to receive firmware updates.

How other myenergi devices receive updates

Products like zappi, eddi and libbi feature built-in displays and communicate with each other via our Radio Frequency (RF) network operating at 868MHz.

This means that even if only one product on site is connected to the internet, the rest of the ecosystem can still receive firmware updates over RF.

What makes GLO different?

GLO is a screenless device, which means it doesn’t have a direct way to show status or interact beyond LEDs and the app interface.

Because of this, GLO must be connected to Wi-Fi directly to download and install firmware updates. It cannot receive updates via RF from another myenergi device.

Why this matters
  • GLO won’t update unless it has a valid Wi-Fi connection
  • Having only another myenergi product online is not enough
  • GLO must be added to your home Wi-Fi via the app to stay up to date
Automatic background updates

Once connected, GLO handles updates automatically in the background. That means no annoying popups, no manual downloads, and no update prompts that disrupt usage.

You’ll always be on the latest version, quietly and efficiently.
