Overview
When charging a single-phase EV on a three-phase zappi, the power is always taken from zappi phase L1.
If there are several zappis installed together and they are all charging single-phase EVs then phase 1 will be heavily loaded and phases 2 and 3 will have very little load on them.
To share the load out more evenly it is possible to rotate the connection to each zappi so that the zappi L1 terminal is physically connected to a different phase of the supply.
How To Change Phase Rotation
To change the phase rotation of your zappi device, you will need to follow these steps:
1. Go to each zappi device that you want to change the phase rotation.
2. Navigate to the Advanced/Supply Grid/Device menu.
3. Look for the Phase Rotation Setting option and select it.
4. Choose the desired phase rotation from the available options: 1/2/3, 2/3/1, or 3/1/2.
5. Save the changes and repeat the process for each zappi device.
Please note that if you make this change, it is also necessary to adjust the CT connections to follow the phases at the supply point (i.e. at the electricity meter). The CT on phase L1 should be connected to zappi CT1, the CT on phase L2 should be connected to zappi CT2, and the CT on phase L3 should be connected to zappi CT3. Rotation Examples | “L1” Terminal | “L2” Terminal | “L3” Terminal | Phase Rotation Setting |
---|---|---|---|---|
Zappi #1 | Phase 1 | Phase 2 | Phase 3 | 1/2/3 |
Zappi #2 | Phase 2 | Phase 3 | Phase 1 | 2/3/1 |
Zappi #3 | Phase 3 | Phase 1 | Phase 2 | 3/1/2 |
CT Connections
The CT connections to the zappi or harvi need to follow the phases at the supply point (ie at the electricity meter). So:
CT on phase L1 needs to be connected to zappi CT1, CT on phase L2 needs to be connected to zappi CT2, and CT on phase L3 needs to be connected to zappi CT.
