Use of PIN Codes
You can use zappi PIN codes in conjunction with Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP). To do this, you first need to set a PIN you'd like to use with OCPP in your myenergi myaccount. You can find out how to do this here.
Principals of operation
- zappi supports the use of PIN codes to unlock and start charging.
- PIN codes are 5 digits long and between the digits of 1 - 4. Giving a total of 625 possible combinations.
- To prevent the risk of conflict with other users and for security, zappi does not share your PIN code with the OCPP provider.
- Instead your PIN code is swapped for a Virtual OCPP Tag (which can be found in your myenergi myaccount) each time it's used. This Virtual Tag can be used to allow authentication of charge events by the OCPP service.
- When a valid PIN code is entered, the Virtual OCPP TAG in the myenergi myaccount is sent in Authorize and Start Transaction Messages. Allowing the OCPP service to associate the PIN code with a user.
- If the OCPP service responds with a BLOCKED response zappi will move to the STOP mode and prevent charging.
Warning: The virtual OCPP is a 16 digit hexadecimal code.
Steps
- Once you've created the PIN that you'd like to use with OCPP click on the pencil item.
- You'll see a box called OCPP tag. This contains the Tag ID which will be sent in any authorize or start transaction OCPP messages.
- Copy this tag from myaccount and add it as an RFID card on the OCPP service.
- That's it! You can now use PIN codes with zappi.
Additional Guidance
- When using PINs with OCPP ensure the FreeCharging Parameter, in the OCPP Configuration, is set to False, to ensure zappi requires authentication.
